Annotated Transcript

Within this page are highlights of my coursework in the Master of Arts in Educational Technology (MAET) at Michigan State University. This shows the journey of my learnings in this program.

Summer 2016

CEP 810: Teaching for Understanding with Technology
Instructor: Ben Rimes

This was the first course I took with the MAET program and it introduced me transforming learning. Within this course, we explored various technology tools that can meet the needs of learners, including ourselves. I was able to learn about Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) and came familiar with this framework that would become the basis of my learning throughout my time in the MAET program. I was also guided into looking into my Personal Learning Network (PLN) and see how my connections may overlap and come together.

Fall 2016

CEP 811: Adapting Innovative Technology to Education
Instructor: Janine Campbell

This course focused on evaluating lesson plans to make learning happen with technology. The main learning for this course was developed around the Stand Alone Instructional Resource (StAIR). The lesson I created allowed me to examine a technology tool, Makey Makey and develop a lesson that I could utilize at some of my trainings for teachers within my district.

CEP 812: Applying Educational Technology to Practice
Instructor: Andrew Steinman

During my time in this course, we were asked to focus on a "Wicked Problem." I was able to explore Failure as a Learning mode. In examining this problem, I looked at this problem in the mindset of a technology trainer that I often see teachers not trying a new technology tool because they are afraid of failing. The conclusion of this project showed me why it is important to keep questioning and embrace failure.

Spring 2017

CEP 817: Teaching Technology Through Design
Instructor: Aman Yadav, Diana Campbell, Cui Cheng, and Carmen Richardson

Stanford Design School (d.School) Design Thinking Model was introduced to us at the beginning of the semester. We were asked to identify a problem of practice and review each aspect of the model throughout the semester: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. Knowing the various steps of the design process has transformed me from observer to challenging proponent for students and teachers. I can move forward and make a more impactful statement from using the design process.

Summer 2017

CEP 815: Technology And Leadership
Instructor: Rohit Mehta and Kyle Shack
CEP 815 was a course that showcased how different leadership can be proven beneficial or not beneficial depending on the circumstance. To fully understand leadership, we were asked to develop a problem of practice and take proper steps to examine this problem of practice as a leader to create a clear vision statement.

CEP 822: Approaches to Educational Technology
Instructor: David Wong, Cui Cheng, and Ming Lei
In this course, comparing data points and the collection of data points were thoroughly analyzed. Creating surveys, dissecting data, and then analyzing the data helped in reviewing research which was the other main component of the coursework.

Fall 2017

CEP 800: Learning in School and Other Settings
Instructor: Candace Marcotte and Cui Cheng
In CEP 800, the course demonstrated that learning is quite a complex matter, all students learn differently, and there are many layers to learning. In fact, there is not one universal way learning happens and that was learned through recognizing the power of habits. It was within this course, that I was able to see patterns in my own learning and can take that with me as I engage future learners.

CEP 818: Creativity in Teaching and Learning
Instructor: Candace Marcotte and Carmen Richardson
This course taught us how to be an advocate for engaging participants in new and exciting ways. The coursework took me on a journey to embracing in a creative mindset. Perceiving, Patterning, Abstracting, Embodied Thinking, Modeling, and Playing is the standards to explore in creating creativity within learning. Creating infographics in showing the connection between creativity and learning was one of the ways that I was able to explore this topic.

Spring 2017

CEP 820: Teaching Students Online
Instructor: Anne Heintz and Cui Cheng
In CEP 820, I developed an online course for learners to successfully gain knowledge of a topic. In particular, I focused on the development of a professional development learning opportunity for teachers within my current district. This was a fully online course that featured class discussions, video tutorials, and tools to help teachers learn and integrate technology they can use in their classroom.

CEP 807: Capstone in Educational Technology
Instructor: Matt Koehler, Spencer Greenhaigh, Sarah Keenan-Lechel, and Brittany Dillman
This is the final course of the MAET program. This course highlights all of your learnings through the Master's program and you build an online portfolio. Each week, I was able to reflect, ask for feedback, and make any changes to have a better portfolio. My website focused on the goal of becoming more available to others outside of my district.
